The debate about the future of print rears its head with regularity. Some will say that the print magazine is dead. Not dead, we would argue - but forced to evolve and work hard to stay relevant. Case in point: this editorial of Eniko Mihalik dripping with diamonds, created by photographer and filmmaker Sebastian Faena. The latter adjective may give you a hint as to what's so special about it: rather than just still photography, this photo spread sees Eniko sensually animated in selected frames.
The usual formats of pictures or video are one thing, but this subtle envelope-pusher - featured on Nowness and taking nudity in fashion to a new level - is another realm entirely. It's enigmatic. It's magical. It's what we imagine publications of the future might look like... where images animate seamlessly like the portraits in a Harry Potter film, where photos and video become one. And that, like it or not, is something that the format of print does not allow for.
